About Birdies Clothing

Our story

After 15 years of experience in the care sector, founders Teresa and Clayre identified a common challenge faced by residents: many relied on carers or family members to make their clothing purchases. This often left residents feeling unable to make their own shopping choices, despite their love of shopping and desire for personal independence. To address this need, Birdies Boutique was established to provide a safe, welcoming, and empowering shopping experience tailored to care home residents. We are fully DBS-checked and fully insured. We are also Dementia Friends, ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism. We are proud to offer this service free of charge, requesting only that care homes help promote our visits to residents and their families. By turning shopping into an engaging and social event, we aim to bring joy and dignity to the process. The positive feedback we have received motivates us to continue making a meaningful difference.

Clayre

I have worked in care for over 15 years, and throughout my career, maintaining dignity has always been my top priority. When my nan moved into a care home, it became even more important, highlighting the essential need for choice and respect for every resident.

Teresa

After caring for my nan, I decided to pursue a career in care and became an activities coordinator. It was during this time I noticed that, for various reasons, many residents were reluctant to leave the familiar comfort and security of the care home. This inspired me to find a way to help them regain their independence and confidence.

What a brilliant service! The residents had such a great time browsing and choosing their own clothes. The staff from Birdies Boutique were friendly, professional, and made everyone feel comfortable. It turned into a fun social event that our residents are still talking about.
